Karen Marie Moning- Kiss of the Highlander (book 4)

Synopsis:
A laird trapped between centuries...Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he'd ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world. Drustan knew he had to return to his own century if he was to save his people from a terrible fate. And he needed the bewitching woman by his side... A woman changed forever in his arms...Gwen Cassidy had come to Scotland to shake up her humdrum life and, just maybe, meet a man. How could she have known that a tumble down a Highland ravine would send her plunging into an underground cavern—to land atop the most devastatingly seductive man she'd ever seen? Or that once he'd kissed her, he wouldn't let her go?  Bound to Drustan by a passion stronger than time, Gwen is swept back to sixteenth-century Scotland, where a treacherous enemy plots against them ... and where a warrior with the power to change history will defy time itself for the woman he loves...

Let me preface this before I go on with this review......you will need at least two boxes of tissue. I had read the first three Highlander books and for some odd reason I really couldn't get into them. After I finished book three, I was ready to start reading as fast as I could. If any of you know me, I read like a bat out of Hell. With this book, I had finally gotten my reading "mojo" back. I never knew going to Scotland and going for a hike and losing one's backpack down a ravine would land you a 16th Scottish Highland laird. That is what happened to Gwen Cassidy. While vacationing in Scotland the virgin, Gwen, found just that. Once Drustan was found and wakened from a 500 year enchantment, they set to go back in time to find out how he had become in such a predicament. But we all know that once you go back into time and set a difference future the future future is forever changed.  Of course throughout the book, there was arguing, heated moments, and disbelief on Gwen's part and again on Drustan that each was from where they were. One from the 21st century and the other the 16th. How each one deals with the surroundings in each century respectively is quite funny to read about. Even though all Gwen wanted in the 16th was a hot shower and tampons! And with Drustan he was very fearful of CARS! LOL!  The ending was a complete and utter shock to me! We all know that in Karen Marie Moning's books' they all their HEA's. This book was no different but how they go there was a complete twist and turn! The second half of the book is where you will need the tissues! Happy Reading! By the way, I have read her Fever series and this book was "almost" up there with those books. The Fever series is my all time favorite series, and I couldn't wait to embark on an adventure to find how how some of the characters from that series became to be!
