Keri Arthur- Full Moon Rising (book 1)

A rare hybrid of vampire and werewolf, Riley Jenson and her twin brother, Rhoan, work for Melbourne’s Directorate of Other Races, an organization created to police the supernatural races–and protect humans from their depredations. While Rhoan is an exalted guardian, a.k.a. assassin, Riley is merely an office worker–until her brother goes missing on one of his missions. The timing couldn’t be worse. More werewolf than vampire, Riley is vulnerable to the moon heat, the weeklong period before the full moon, when her need to mate becomes all-consuming. Luckily Riley has two willing partners to satisfy her every need. But she will have to control her urges if she’s going to find her brother….Easier said than done as the city pulses with frenzied desire, and Riley is confronted with a very powerful–and delectably naked–vamp who raises her temperature like never before. In matters carnal, Riley has met her match. But in matters criminal, she must follow her instincts not only to find her brother but to stop an unholy harvest. For someone is doing some shifty cloning in an attempt to produce the ultimate warrior–by tapping into the genome of nonhumans like Rhoan. Now Riley knows just how dangerous the world is for her kind–and just how much it needs her.
I’m totally in love with this series. And now that I’m trying to write about this first book, I’ve realized that there is a lot going on with the characters. The characters are great, and the story is a continuous flow from book to book. So…Riley and her twin brother, Rhoan, work for the Directorate of Other Races. Riley as a liaison and Rhoan as a Guardian (basically a hunter/killer). Riley senses that her brother is in danger while on one of his Guardian missions and is prepared to do anything short of becoming a Guardian herself to help Rhoan. Riley may not mind working for Guardians, but she is dead set against becoming one, much to the dismay of her boss, Jack. Riley comes home from work the day she realizes that Rhoan is in trouble to find a naked vampire, Quinn, sitting by the front door of her apartment. He has no memory of who he is or why he’s naked. However, he does remember Rhoan, and Rhoan’s insistence that he find him if there is ever trouble. Riley tries to ignore the vampire and go about her business, but he keeps popping up – saving her numerous times. He eventually figures out who he is and why he’s trying to contact Rhoan and earns a little of Riley’s trust…as well as becomes one of her many “mates”. While trying to save Rhoan, Riley becomes a target herself and must rely on the Directorate and Quinn for help. Awesome book, with lots of twists.
