We First meet Khalil as an unwilling Friend to Carlings the Vampire queen, DJinn work with a favor process , You give favors for services.. So the DJinn with the most favors owed to them is the most powerful but sadly for Khalil he had to war with his ex mate who had kidnapped and tortured their daughter , She was 1st DJinn and Khalil is 2dn DJinn , So he had to give favors to build an army to save his daughter , it took 500 years and his daughter was damaged, Carlings owed favors from Khalil, and When Carlings needed to escape a place only a Djinn who are made of smoke could escape she called Khalil who took them to see the very new unprepared Oracle. Who had just lost her sister to a car crash. and was now the new mother to very young niece and nephew. Grace was not in the mood to handle callers at the wee hours of the morning. the baby had an ear infection and wouldn’t stop crying.. last thing she needed was the Wyr people coming to her door. After carlings healed the baby she was willing to help. But was unwilling the help of the Djinn who offered to protect her kids while she was away. but with no other choice she took it.. thinking soon this would all be over. But days after they left she learns from her niece about a talking dog/cat and soon learns that the Djinn never left. Angry she confronts him , He offers his protections for the children, Grace turns him down.. Khalil is outraged this mere human would turn down such a gift. But Grace soon learns she needs Khalil for more then just protection , When she learns all their lives are in danger.
