Growing up with telepathic abilities, Sookie Stackhouse realized early on there were things she’d rather not know. And now that she’s an adult, she also realizes that some things she knows about, she’d rather not see—like Eric Northman feeding off another woman. A younger one.
There’s a thing or two she’d like to say about that, but she has to keep quiet—Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), is in town. It’s the worst possible time for a human body to show up in Eric’s front yard—especially the body of the woman whose blood he just drank.
Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s set out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.
I started this series a few years ago when I first heard about the books becoming a tv show on HBO, I was hooked from book one. I love how she brings all the paranormal creatures that I like into each story. Now we all know by now that the tv show is loosely based on the books and not everything will match up but they are trying to keep things together- like certain things that happened in book 4 will happen in series four on the show. In this book we find Sookie in trouble again, man it seems to follow poor Sookie, with her now dating Eric she is invited to his house in Shreveport for a small get together with Felipe. She walks in late only to catch her husband, Eric, doing something that he on one hand has to do but on the other hand should not be doing. Him drinking from another woman is hard enough for Sookie, but when that woman ends up dead on his front lawn things go down hill fast. Their relationship is strained and holding on by a thread already. Bill is of course hovering in the back ground waiting for his chance with Sookie again. All the characters from the other books make appearances and that I like. Someone close to Sookie is out to get her and she doesn't see it coming until it's almost too late.
This is the second to last book in this series- only one more and we find out once and for all if Sookie will stay human, who she picks for her forever (if she has one) & how the rest of her life will end up.
My Rating: 4 Wendy
I'm just getting ready to start this one. I love the series and am getting excited as we near to the finish.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your review!
I have enjoyed the series also. Just finished it and it was good. I still don't like who it seems she might end up with though lol. Eric made me mad in this book.
