Evermore- Lynn Viehl (book 5)

Jayr is proud to be the only female ever permitted to serve as seneschal to a Darkyn lord. But in her centuries of service to Master Byrne, she has fallen in love with him. Now, Byrne plans to step down and hand over the Jardin to another Kyn lord-a move that threatens not only Jayr's position, but her very life...

I am enjoying this series. I must admit Jayr is one of the favorite females next to Alex. Jayr has served Byrne since she was turned to a Darkyn. She has loved him for a very long time but has never told him since she is his seneschal. Byrne has feelings for Jayr but is afraid that he will hurt her when he loses it and he starts killing everyone. So he has decided to not lead the Jardin. They have a realm set up for the tourists and once a year they close it down and the Kyn come for a competition of jousting and shooting arrows like the medieval days. There is a new Kyn that comes to town and he stirs up trouble with Kyn. Let's just say this book was very good. The one I thought responsible for all the problems was not the one and I was surprised. Jayr and Byrne are great together and I very much liked who they picked to rule the Jardin. Will Jayr and Byrne admit to one another how they feel? Why does this new Kyn want to cause trouble?
