King of Darkness- Elisabeth Staab (book 1)

ETERNAL COMMITMENT IS NOT ON HER AGENDA…
Scorned by the vampire community for her lack of power, Isabel Anthony lives a carefree existence masquerading as human—although, drifting among the debauched human nightlife, she prefers the patrons’ blood to other indulgences. But when she meets the king of vampires this party girl’s life turns dark and dangerous.

BUT TIME’S RUNNING OUT FOR THE KING OF VAMPIRES…
Dead-set on finding the prophesied mate who will unlock his fiery powers, Thad Morgan must find his queen before their race is destroyed. Their enemies are gaining ground, and Thad needs his powers to unite his subjects. But when his search leads him to the defiant Isabel, he wonders if fate has gotten it seriously wrong…

I read an excerpt for this book on a friends blog, well I thought it was this book, two excerpts were posted and I read them both. I got this book thinking it was something else but boy am I glad I made a mistake, this book was great. It's fast paced with a lovable couple who both know and understand they want to be together but can't let go of the past enough to make it happen. Oh the sex is great between them and the magical pull between their bodies want them to be together but Isabel has lived with humans most of her life and doesn't know the first thing about living with vampires or better yet being the queen Thad wants her to be. A young king, Thad has heard his whole life about the prophesied mate that is destined to help him stop the evil wizards before it's too late. Isabel doesn't want that much responsibility on her shoulders but when wizards attack her best friend, Alexia, a human, she goes with Thad to try to save her. Their need to be together wins in the end but is it at a cost to one of them?
I hope this is a continuing series for a long time because the side characters in this book are fantastic.
My Rating 4.5     Wendy

  1. Thanks so much for the awesome review! It'll be at least a 3 book series. Book 2, Prince of Power, is due out in January. :)
