Review: Sabina has felt her whole life she was being punished for her parent’s sins. The sin of falling in love. Sabina's mother was a Vampire, the daughter of the Dominae, the leader of the vampire race. Her father was the Leader of the Mage, and the two races never mixed. They only just recently called a truce to the war. When Lavinia, Sabina's grandmother, learns that her daughter is pregnant with a half mage child, she sends her away. Sadly, shortly after the birth Sabina's mother dies and she is raised by her cold grandmother who she spends her whole life trying to prove herself worthy to. But to Lavinia she was nothing but a tool to use. Sabina was told to become a spy and then kill the leader of Clovis, who was cult like with his followers. The Clovis's true plans were to take over the Dominae and rule them himself.
Adam is a mage sent from Sabina’s mage family she never knew she had. When he wants to help her learn her magic, she refuses because vampires didn’t use magic and to accept his teaching would remind everyone, even more, that she was a half breed vampire.
