Blurb: Seven Years to Sin
The longer the resistance…
Seven years ago, on the eve of her wedding, proper Lady Jessica Sheffield witnessed a licentious scene no innocent young miss could imagine. Shocked, yet strangely titillated, she’d held her silence regarding scandalous Alistair Caulfield, and walked down the aisle as expected. But through years of serene, unremarkable marriage, Caulfield’s image remained burned into her imagination, fueling very illicit dreams…
…the sweeter the reward
Alistair ran far from the temptation of the prim debutante with the fire of passion in her eyes–all the way to the West Indies. As a successful merchant, he has little in common with the rakehell youth she knew. But when newly widowed Jessica steps aboard his ship for a transatlantic passage, seven years’ worth of denied pleasures are held in check by nothing more than a few layers of silk–and the certainty that surrender will consume them both…
Review: Lady Jessica Sheffield is set with her life, she’s not unhappy, but she is not completely happy with how things are going. She has the feelings of wanting more. On the eve of her wedding, she witnesses a non to private display of two people having sex. Alistair, a younger man who she finds very intriguing, but not what she thinks she needs in her life at the time, is having sex with a much older woman. Jess sees him and he certainly sees her. With one look from him she is held in place, while he continues pounding this other woman. The following day, Jess marries the man her father chose for her but seven years later he dies and being a wealthy man, he left Jess a home of her own in the West Indies.
For the past seven years Alistair has stayed away from his family and Jess because what he feels for her he has never felt for anyone else. Now he is a proud business man who owns the ship that will take Jess to her home on the island so she can check on her property. She is surprised to find Alistair on the ship and knows even after a happy marriage and seven long years she now knows that what this man can give her is what her body needs. Six weeks on a ship and Alistair has Jess right where he wants and needs her, in his arms and better yet, in his bed. Getting news from her sister, Jess turns around and sails back to England and there, both of their lives are changed, not necessarily for the good. Both must make big decisions that will affect their futures, either together or separately.
I normally don’t read historical romance books but since this is the book that inspired Ms. Day to write Bared to You, I thought I might give it a try. I really enjoyed this whole book, it has sex, love, friendship and heartache that just pulls you right in.
