TGIF everyone!! Today we have C.J. Ellisson stopping by to talk about her yummy paranormal erotica books.

1. C.J., for our followers that are new to you, tell us about your V V series.
The best way to describe it would be to use the words of one of the reviewers. She called it a “paranormal erotic mystery set in the Arctic.” It’s a vampire series filled with snark, sex, adventure, a little intrigue, and a dash of mystery. It’s written in first person present tense, which is not common in the genre. I encourage readers to try the free sample on my website to see if the novel is to their liking before buying it.

2. Tell us about the third book in this series recently released the end of April, BIG GAME.
This book is the first one set outside of Alaska. Half of our seethe, or vampire family, has traveled to a remote island off the southeastern coast of Argentina. They later journey to Buenos Aires to uncover who threatens Vivian and why.
The other half of the book is with the remaining cast of characters back in Alaska. Jon, Pat, and Eric host a werewolf retreat for big game hunting across the tundra. Each chapter switch is a different POV in a different location. It makes for one very wild ride!

3. How many books are planned, and when do we get to read about Jon (for anyone that doesn’t know this is Vivian’s werewolf servant)?
I’d originally planned on Jon’s novella, DEATH’S SERVANT to come out this summer. But another project has taken my central focus and with my health improving a bit, I’ve been traveling more than ever. So between five summer trips and my kids underfoot, I haven’t accomplished as much as I’d like. Jon’s book is looking like it might be slotted as fall release.
I have four books plotted in this existing story arc (although each book is a stand alone adventure), with books five and six separate from this arc. I will happily write more books as long as there is reader interest.

4. Where did the inspiration for this series originate?
With my love of reading good urban fantasy! I’ve loved the kick-butt heroines and adventurous plotlines for years. I grew tired of the same romantic problems plaguing the strong women and devised a story with a married couple, hoping to incorporate the steamy sex I enjoyed reading along with an engaging plot.

5. We understand you turned to writing because of some health issues, can you tell us about it?
Serious problems started in 2008, which resulted in lots if tests to find out what was wrong. I was diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases. Right when I thought things were under control I was diagnosed with Lyme disease. When they discovered it I was already in the late stages of the disease. An infectious disease specialist treated the disease aggressively for over a year, even ordering a picc line for IV antibiotics. It became apparent after a year that I was not getting better.
Unfortunately, I became sicker and accumulated two more autoimmune diseases and eventually had to go to a Lyme specialist for treatment. She discovered three more tick diseases (Bartonella Henselea, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Babesia) that had been undiscovered and two cases of walking pneumonia – Legionnaires and Micoplasma.
Frankly, it was all a little surreal and I think I was in denial for a long time. Dealing with the doctor’s orders was easy if I did it day by day and didn’t think about the big picture of how ill I truly was.
Things got better for a while and I thought I was on then mend. We stopped a lot of the drugs and I rapidly spiraled out of control, picking up bacteria everywhere I went (Murine Thypus being one of them). Through all of this, my immune system was slowly attacking my body instead of the various bacteria. All these antibiotics messed up my body’s balance and I developed a rampant case of Candida in my blood and organs, which I’m still actively battling.
I discovered I had Lupus based on reader comments on Facebook. Their responses prompted me to do some research and question my health care providers. Believe it or not, the doctor refrained from telling me and decided to just treat each disease individually. Something about health insurance possibly denying me coverage in the future and worrying I’d spiral into a depression with yet one more diagnosis looming over me.
One thing I’m not is a quitter. Nor am I a complainer. These diseases and my extensive daily treatment will not define who I am nor will they stop me from living my life. Life is hard, my medical costs each month not covered by insurance reach into the thousands—but I’m never going to give up.
This September will mark my third year of antibiotics with no foreseeable end in sight (we’re hoping another year and that’s it). They may not be able to tell me the exact day I will get better, but that’s okay. I know it will happen. I’ll put the Lupus into remission and we’ll be able to beat these crafty bacteria hiding throughout my body.

6. Did you do much writing before you became ill?
I never wrote before I became sick. I worked and owned my own small company. Writing saved my sanity and gave me something to focus on—something I could do that was all my own when I had trouble walking, thinking, and functioning day to day within my family.
I can see why people with chronic illness get depressed. But having something of your own to keep your mind focused makes all the difference in the world.

7. Writing books isn’t the only thing that keeps you busy. Tell us about “Everything Erotic” and “Red Hot Readers”.
I’m thankful Everything Erotic practically runs itself. It started as a Kindle blog. An idea I had to reach more readers if adult content writers would pool together their talent. It worked and we started to increase readership by packaging our monthly blog posts and selling them as eBooks. This September will be two years we’ve been up and running.
Red Hot Readers was a concept to match up Indie and small press authors with interested readers. I’ve had a bit of trouble keeping up with that project, and my co-founder has been busy too, but we do have plans over the next few months to revitalize the Page and get more readers and writers involved.

8. Do you have any hobbies you could tell us about?
Before I became ill, my husband and I used to flip homes. I’m a crafty bitch and can do major carpentry and tile projects on my own. Now, with my limited strength, I take on smaller projects—like gardening, cooking with my kids, board games, lots of reading, and we camp with our travel trailer quite a bit.

9. If you could pick any type of paranormal being to turn yourself into for 24 hours, what would you pick and why?
LOL! Well, if being a vampire for 24 hours would get rid of all that ails me I’d jump at that chance in a heartbeat! If not, then maybe I’d pick something that would enable me to see the future. I’d write it all down and use my knowledge wisely after the 24 hours was up, I promise ;-)

10. What reads will you have for us in the near future CJ?
I’m working on my first contemporary erotic romance, called Vanilla Dom. It’s a lot of fun to write and I’m having a blast. I’m not used to writing a strictly romantic plot. I keep wanting to throw a dead body in there somewhere!

Vampire Vacation (The V V Inn #1)
Meet Vivian. She's a 580-year-old vampire who exudes sex, has a talent for drama, and is passionate about two things: her human husband, Rafe, and their resort for the undead. Her ability to project physical illusions has created the perfect vacation spot a dark, isolated Alaskan hideaway where visitors can have their wildest fantasies come true.
Vivian knows the best performance requires perfect timing, but the powerful vamp is put to the test when she discovers a corpse in a locked guestroom minutes before the next arrivals. Always cool-headed, Rafe hides the body, convinced he and Vivian can find the culprit without disturbing their guests.
Juggling the increasingly outrageous demands of their customers while tracking a killer isn't easy. Will their poking and prodding give them the answers they need, or will it uncover secrets Vivian would kill to protect?
Warning: This story contains some explicit sex scenes and is not intended for readers under 18.

The Hunt (The V V Inn #2)
Vivian thinks she can control every aspect of a deadly game with her usual manipulations… but what if she can’t? Journey along, in this next installment of The V V Inn series, for a wild ride as the tale is told through the eyes of all her new seethe members.
Seven vampires and seven werewolves pay to hunt a supernatural criminal across the cold, vast grounds of an Alaskan resort. The one to catch her, and live through the encounter, will increase their power by feasting on hers.
The tiny vampire they track is more than she appears, however. To escape a fate of ten years in silver chains, she'll do anything to survive the week long excursion. This time, the darkness holds more than just the stinging bite of the Arctic—it holds death.

Big Game (The V V Inn #3)
In this much-anticipated third installment of the V V Inn series, our sexy couple journeys to Argentina, bringing half their seethe along for the ride. Vivian and Rafe venture into the Seat of Darkness, the Tribunal's base, to uncover who's plotting against them and why. From a cold, windy island off the southern Argentine coast, to the decadence of Buenos Aires, the group has plenty to keep their attention--seductive twins, deadly games, and a bunch of bloodsucking fiends who hate our much-loved, despotic innkeeper enough to see her dead. Asa and Jon remain in Alaska, to manage the famous inn as it opens doors to a new type of guest. Visiting werewolves go on their first exploration of the property, looking for big game--hormones run high and shots ring out across the tundra. Soon, the hunters become the hunted and the peaceful getaway resembles a battleground. How many will survive the next five days and will they ever be the same again?
Warning: This book contains very explicit sex scenes and is not intended for readers under 18

Unless they have one of these "invisible" diseases, people just don't understand them, I've been fighting Rheumatoid Arthritis for over 20 years and I'm on the last course of med treatment now, there is nothing else out there that works for me (believe me I have tried them all). Every 6 months I go for a two week, two treatment course of chemo and thank goodness it is helping
