LT'S REVIEW: As one of the only Destined mated couples to not make it, Brandon’s parents split after his mother learned, sometime later, that she was married to a dragon shape shifter. She was unable to handle to the truth and felt betrayed by her mate. His father, unsure how to process the mean and hurtful words his mate said to him left his family only to return to help teach his son about his dragon nature when he hit puberty. By that time Brandon had taught himself to hate that side of him after he saw the pain it caused his mother. When she saw her son change for the first time she reacted in the same way as she did with her mate and called him a monster. Brandon left to become a surfer because the call of the water was the only thing that calmed his dragon. He knew there were other Pry’s in the world but he didn’t want to know them. Sadly when he did make friends with an elderly old man, it was his downfall because unbeknownst to Brandon, Chen was one of the worst slayers to meet. Chen was able to hide his scent and Brandon believed he was only a frail old man. So he gave Chin his scales for some magic powder Brandon thought he needed to get rid of his dragon.

Liz is a witch. But she thought she gave away her powers 14 years before when she tried to aid her mother in her TEST, all 3^rd daughters of 3^rd daughters have a test of the elements. Liz happens to be a FireDaughter which means she can control fire, but she feared her Test after watching her mother fail hers. When she goes to Hawaii for a seminar she falls quickly for a slightly younger surfer she feels her powers come back full force and with that the threat of her Test.
