BLURB: ...Workin' up a hot, sticky sweat is pure pleasure with a hard-ridin' cowboy…or two.
Struggling stock contractor Gemma Jansen swallows her pride and tracks down circuit rider Cash Big Crow to offer him a job managing her ranch. Cash agrees on one condition: theirs won’t be strictly a working relationship. She’s the boss during the day, but once she’s corralled in the bedroom, Cash calls the shots. Despite concerns about their age difference, Gemma consents.
Cash suspects the sexy widow hides an untapped wild streak. He intends to loosen her tightly held reins of control—even if he has to break out his horsewhip to do it.
But Cash is in for a surprise. Gemma proves a rough and ready participant in any leather-n-lace game Cash dreams up.
Between riding herd on his wayward daughter, Macie, and rowdy cowboy Carter McKay doggin' Macie’s every boot step, Cash struggles to hide his true feelings for Gemma except this time, Gemma’s grabbed the bull by the horns and she’s playing for keeps.
Summer’s going to be a hot one at the Bar 9.
WENDY’S REVIEW: I like the author's warning from her website so I will add them at the beginning of each of my reviews:
Warning: This book contains: explicit sex nine ways til Sunday including ménage a trois, inventive use of ropes, naughty girls getting spanked, stubborn men getting hog-tied, graphic language and whoo-wee! hot nekkid cowboy action.
I liked the first book better than this one but don't get me wrong, I did enjoy this book too. Cash knew what he wanted for years but instead of rushing Gemma into something she was not ready for, he stood back and gave her time to come around. She wised up and found Cash at the rodeo where she asked him to come work for her. Of course Cash said yes, but with conditions (these men and their conditions). She can be boss outside the bedroom but when it comes to sex and what happens in the bedroom, on the couch, on the table, on the floor, in the barn, wherever they happened to have sex, he was in charge. Take it or leave it, well she took it and more. The feelings between these two build fast but also build solid. They are both destined to have a HEA.
Now to Carter McKay and Macie- Carter is the younger brother of Colby (from book 1). He never wanted to be a rancher, he's always been an artsy type so he left the ranch to go to art school. He's now back but instead of working on the McKay ranch he is working part time for Gemma. It's on the trip to find Cash that he spots Macie, who he has been dreaming about. Calling her his muse, he knows he has to meet her and to paint or sculpt her for his upcoming show. Macie is at the rodeo to meet up with her father, who she plans to spend the summer traveling with. Turns out that Cash is Macie's father, which is a shock to everyone since Cash has never told anyone that he had a grown child. Macie agrees to head back to Gemma's ranch with Cash to see what can become of this budding friendship with Carter. It changes from friendship to lovers quickly, but as fast as it started it comes to a skidding halt, due to Carter and his hang ups about his work.
I did enjoy this book in the sense that the author wrote more about feelings and how people can change and truly put others before themselves.
My Rating: 4
