Main Characters: Meryn and Nadine

Blurb: Centuries ago, Meryn was thought to be utterly lost--all traces of his soul given up to the ravening goblin horde. But with the curse that enslaved him now broken, he must once again learn to walk in the realm of men. Nurse Nadine Gilbert likes working the night shift to avoid her disturbing dreams, but her mysterious new patient looks hauntingly familiar. Meryn knows he doesn't deserve a second chance, but Nadine brings out his long-buried human side. Telling her the truth about his violent past could destroy their fragile trust. Could she ever believe in the love of a Goblin Warrior?

Shonna's Review:  The Shadowlands held him prisoner for almost two thousand years. Lost within himself because of the pain in his heart, Meryn allowed his surrender to the curse. Filling his mind with thoughts of nothing but precious gold, he turned his fate and changed into an unfeeling goblin. Never having rational thoughts, Meryn let his soul become cocooned in an ugly gray being that controlled his very existence. With time, and a chain of events involving the goblin king and his brother, Meryn is freed to enter The Fixed Realm of present day. Forever leaving behind the Shadowlands and the curse, Meryn must now find a way to move forward with his second chance at life.

The hidden truth in her mind of what happened all those years ago always refused to surface. The shattered window and the death of her mother created imaginary shards of glass that pierced and broke her heart and childhood throughout her life. Even as an adult Nadine is afraid of the dark and the shadows that cause her haunting nightmares. Passed from foster home to foster home, she never allowed herself to get close to anyone. Then she met him, the man that would save her from it all, and become her knight.

Not that I don’t like the other two novels (because I do) but, this is by far my favorite in the Shadowlands Series. Shona Husk does a wonderful job all around in this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. I truly believed the feelings and emotions of the characters through her words and simply couldn’t put it down. If you are looking for something just a little different to read, you don’t want to pass on these goblins that will not only steal your gold, but steal your heart.

My Rating: 4.5
