My friend and her new fur coat!
Alyssa here. I want to clear the air a little bit. I know a
lot of you out there think that we vamps have issues with other supernaturals.
Let me set the record straight. We’re cool! That’s right. Vampires, werewolves,
witches, shifters; we’re all part of the
same world-wide minority. It’s you humans who seem to have serious prejudice
issues. And you guys love to place those
same types of prejudices on us as well. Fiction is always full of
vampire-werewolf wars or some other BS like that. It’s really quite silly. But
anyway, I’m getting off topic here.
Now that that bit is all cleared up I can tell you how over
the moon (pun intended) I am about my buddy Fallon becoming a werewolf!
You see, here’s the thing. When I became a vampire, I was
supposed to give up everything in my “mortal” life. Vampire law and all that. I
get it now. We are a danger to humans, especially the ones we love. We’re
constantly hunted by the Acta Sanctorum. And those guys are no joke! So, that
meant friends, family, you get the picture; I had to turn my back on them all.
Do you really think I could have given up my BFF? No Way. So
naturally, I fought to keep her around. The sad fact is, even though I could
hold back my vampiric urges for blood, (Don’t bother judging until you’ve spent
a night in my fangs! ) I couldn’t escape the fact that she’d eventually die.
I’m immortal, she’s not. I live a dangerous life, and since she’s part of it,
she’s in constant danger. Eventually I’d have to watch her die and that was
really not cool.
I’d tried to get her to become a vamp. I mean I really tried
hard. At one point my fangs were inches from her neck, ready to strike the
deadly blow, but I couldn’t do it. She didn’t want to be a vampire. She won’t
say the words out loud, but she despises me for being one. I know it. Sometimes
she looks at me like I’m a monster. It hurts, but I can’t say I blame her.
Again I say, spend a night in my fangs before you judge. Eventhough she thinks
of me as a bit of a monster, we’re still BFF’s. That bond has never broken.
But, being a vampire ain’t for everyone. I was not all that happy about it
either when I first turned, so I couldn’t do it to her. I have to honor her wishes.
Then came Aiden. And thank the gods for him! He’s a wolf.
Wolves are not truly Immortal but they live for a really, really long time.
Next best thing, right? Fallon was head over heels for that man from the moment
she met him. I thought becoming a wolf to be his mate was a guarantee. Still
though, she was resistant to the idea. I don’t know why that girl was so wishy
washy. And again, I gave some serious
thought to just turning her myself. I know, I know, I’m a little selfish. But
if you look at it from my perspective: she’s a fragile human living around dangerous
supernatural creatures. I was looking out for her wellbeing too. I wanted my
best friend to stay around for a long time.
It took quite a bit of convincing, but eventually, Fallon became
receptive to wearing a fur coat over drinking blood. And, like I said, we
supernaturals are all pretty cool with each other. So she agreed to be turned
into a werewolf! It was the perfect
solution. I get my BFF and we really do get to be Best Friends Forever!
So, now you know the basics. Do you
want to read about how it all went down?
Check out Moonlight!
Good girls don’t wear fur, or fight over men, and they certainly don’t run around naked, howling at the moon.
But then, no-one ever called Fallon a good girl.
As a human unofficially mated to an Alpha werewolf, Fallon is being pressured to “become”...or be gone.
Her mate Aiden, the interim leader of the Olde Town Pack, is in a position that demands he either choose a wolf mate...or leave the pack forever. No matter how hot the sex with Fallon is, he can’t ignore centuries of tradition.
Become a wolf or not. If only the choice were that simple. Fallon’s options are further clouded by the overt presence of other females desperate to be the Alpha’s mate. And when these bitches get serious, it’s not just claws that come out. If Fallon wants to keep her man and take the title she’ll have to exert a little dominance of her own.

The
Immortalis Series: (This is the parent series where Alyssa is the Main
Character.)
Becoming a vampire is easy. Living
with the condition... that's the hard part. Join Alyssa as she stumbles through
the world of the "Unnatural."

Kallisto, an ancient and vindictive
vampire queen – and Lysander's old mate - wants nothing less than final death
for her former lover and his new toy. She's not above letting the Acta
Sanctorum, and its greatest vampire hunter, Santino, know exactly where the
clan can be found.
With no time to mourn her old life,
Alyssa's survival depends on her new family. She will have to stand alongside
Lysander and fight against two enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy
them.
Book
2: Hunters & Prey - Rule number
one: humans and vampires don't co-exist. One is the hunter and one is the prey.
Simple, right? Not for newly-turned vampire Alyssa. A surprise confrontation
with Santino Vitale, the Acta Sanctorum's most fearsome hunter, sends her
fleeing back to the world she once knew, and Fallon, the human friend she's missed more than anything. Now she
has some explaining to do. However, that will have to wait. With the Acta
Sanctorum hot on their heels, staying alive is more important than educating a
human on the finer points of bloodlust.

@Chrisbails, my favorite genre is Urban Fantasy. It is no coincidence that it is the primary genre I write in as well. I love the marriage of the supernatural within the world as we know it. That question of "could this be real?" has always made the genre that much more interesting to me. Sure it's all fiction, but what if, right?
ReplyDeleteAs for books to recommend. Have you read the Skye Morrison series by J.L. McCoy? If you like vamps, this is a series to take a peek at.
