WENDY’S REVIEW: This is one of my favorite authors and for her to have a spin-off series to the IAD series, it was a no-brainer that I would be reading this book. There is such an awesome emotional pull between these two characters that it was hard to put the book down. Trehan, is a loner, the hitman on his realm, who liked living the solitary life until he first saw Bettina and then his whole world changed. Trehan thought he didn't need or deserve love, oh he wanted it and dreamed about it but in his life and line of work he thought he was destined to be alone. Being a born vampire in the Lore, he knew all the stories about finding his Bride but didn't think he needed to take her blood when and if he finally found her. His race of vampires, the Dacian, live on their own realm and are hidden from the rest of the Lore.
Bettina is a halfling, her mother was a sorceress and father was a demon but they were the King and Queen of their realm so that makes Bettina the princess and future Queen. Her guardians think she needs a mate before she takes over the duties as Queen so they con her into having a contest to find the perfect male for her. Bettina has been in love with her demon best friend since they were children. She wants him to win her hand and heart by winning the contest, but once Trehan finds out about the contest and the prize, he is determined to win and have her for himself as his Bride and wife.
The push and pull between their hearts was such an interesting, magical read. Trehan knew from the first moment that she was his but Bettina took a little longer to open her eyes and notice what was best for her.
This series will definitely be on my must read list and I look forward to reading more. I really enjoyed reading about some past characters and hope that Trehan and Bettina show up in further books because he is just so damn yummy.
