BLURB: Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young—just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.

WENDY’S REVIEW: Let's start with what I liked about this book, Qhuinn... that is the main thing I loved about this book. To have him come full circle and to open up (if only a little at a time) about his feelings, his wants, his needs and to actually go after them is what I really enjoyed in this book. To want something so badly that you are willing to settle for bits and pieces no matter how big or small.  I cried so much throughout this book, the emotions were just so raw, from sad, jumping from too scared and then to too happy, it was just such a wild ride.
What I did not care for about this book, too many sub-plots going on at once. I completely understand story building and world building but I wanted a story with more Q & B, not so much of the others.
While Qhuinn was coming full circle about his feelings, Blay was holding back his and what was going on between him and Saxton. So many times he had the opportunity to express his true feelings but he held back on taking what he needed from Q at that minute or not taking what was fully offered because he was terrified of being hurt again.  The furniture moving sex between these two men was what they both needed, even if each was taking something different from it.
I could go on writing about this book but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I will say that I am 100% satisfied with the love story between the two men. I am looking forward to the next book and the next book and the next book in this series, I can even deal with the 10 different sub-plots just to have a little glance at the Brothers.
My Rating: 5   (I personally give it a 10 just for having Z in the book!!)

  1. LOL I loved that Z was in the book too:) I agree completely with you--- the subplots were killing me. Two I can handle, but it was crazy how many were going on! I'll keeping reading too though:)
