Shonna's review: A few weeks ago while attending the RT Convention in KC, Mo., there was a huge buzz about Raine Miller and her Blackstone series. For several days conversations would continually pop-up among the huge number of readers that were present for this annual event. With all the positive excitement about these books, I knew I had to jump on the band wagon and see for myself.
LOVE, along with amorous,
passionate possessiveness has consumed Ethan Blackstone, when it comes to
Brynne Bennett. The way this character is deliciously expressed is one of the most
intense, and erotic things about this hotter than hell *fanning myself here*
book. He knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to specify, take, and
willingly give, while telling you exactly how he is going to do it and claim it.
*I need more ice in my drink and have to crank on the air* That dirty dirty bedroom mouth of his (YUM) has raised the bar that will forever be hard
to top. Yet, Ethan isn’t perfect (only 99.9%). From the past a shadow scars him
and haunts a part of him that even years later, he hasn’t been able to overcome.
This struggle keeps a part of him from completely letting go of his entire soul
as he holds back this one dark place from the woman he loves.
Brynne always likes the easy way out, running and hiding. In this installment she learns and comes to understand that with Ethan beside her, encouraging her growth, she can be stronger that she thinks. Dealing with some issues is a real problem for Brynne but once she comes to terms, she flourishes. The building mystery that has endangered Brynne and the people she loves during this series is revealed and an ending that still leaves room for more to be said is where EYES WIDE OPEN ends.
Thinking back as to how I was totally engrossed while reading this phenomenal work, I wish I had a picture of my face while I was turning the pages and reading. The way I was so captivated by Raine Miller’s talented work, I am sure my eyes were bulging while my mouth was hanging open absorbing every word, not only in this book but in this whole series. I’m sure it would have been a hilarious Kodak moment.
