Why Vampires?
Well, hell, why not?
They’re all but immortal, they’re powerful, aggressive, totally alpha
bad boys (and girls.) And in my books,
they’re forever young, gorgeous and great lovers. What’s not to like?I’ve
always been a fan of the weird and unknown. I like to think about what else
might be out there. When I hear a bump in the night, I don’t dismiss it as a
pair of amorous raccoons, I’m imagining the monster outside the window. Scares
the heck out of me when I’m home alone, but what a rush!
And that’s what I try to do with my stories. I try to take my readers into a place they’ll
never visit in real life. I want them to
leave behind the grocery lists and the crying kids, the nasty boss and the
over-filled inbox, the bills on the desk and the dust on the furniture. I want
to take them someplace exciting and adventurous, to let them mingle for a while
with sexy and powerful creatures, to feel the adrenaline rush of beating the
bad guys and falling into bed with a gorgeous guy (or girl) afterwards.
So, why vampires? Why
werewolves and demons? Because they take
me away from the ordinary, they let me believe there’s more out there in the
night than squirrels and possums, that there’s more to our world than we know.
And they let me pretend to be more than I am for just a little while. And I hope my readers feel that way, too.
HUNTED (A Cyn & Raphael
e-Novella)
Vampires In America, Book 6.5
POWER, it comes down to this . . . those who
have it, those who want it. REVENGE, the need for it is a fire in the soul, a
goad for the unwise. HUNTED, the fate of the foolish when they think to become
the hunter. Power . . . Revenge . . . Hunted. The Lord of the Midwest is dead,
and the powerful vampires of North America are gathering to choose his
successor. The Vampire Council will be there to oversee the competition and to
keep the violence to a bloody minimum, including Raphael, who will do whatever
it takes to ensure the victor is a vampire he can trust. But someone is
determined to stop Raphael and his mate, Cyn, from ever reaching Chicago, a
hunter who may soon become . . . the hunted.
