Today we have author Lisa Kessler joining us for a Q&A session. Thank you so much for stopping by today.
1. How did the idea for MOONLIGHT begin?
I was in the middle of a
short story challenge from Ray Bradbury to write of 52 stories in 52 weeks.
Lana popped in my head and I thought what if someone was a shifter and they
didn't know it. And what if it didn't happen on a full moon... The story took off
from there, but once I had the story finished I wanted to know what happened
next. Six months later Moonlight was finished.
2. Without giving too much away, what is your
favorite scene in this book?
Oh it's tough to choose,
but the most emotional scene for me was the big fight scene at Lake Tahoe. I
cried when I wrote it and cried again when we edited it. I was really proud of
how it turned out in the end.
3. Can you tell us how the 2nd book (Hunter's Moon)
in the series is going and when it will be released?
I just turned in my 1st round edits on Hunter's Moon and I'm
hoping we'll have a cover soon! *fingers crossed* It's already up for
preorder on Amazon and B&N, and it'll be released Oct. 21st. Not too long
to wait! :)
4. Do we find out who Lana's brother is in the
second book? (Wendy
here- I think I know and I hope I'm right lol unless we haven't met him yet
then I am so wrong)
Hee! I've been getting this question a lot and I
don't want to give away too much... LOL I think I'll just say she has more than
one brother and you've only met one so far... How's that for cryptic. (lol not the answer I wanted Lisa haha)
5. Will any of the twins ever have the same mate?
Nope. Each wolf only has one mate for life and they never have to
share... However in Blood Moon, two wolves think they've found their mate and
it's the same woman. Sadly for one of them she's not theirs.
6. Do you have all the books planned out? Can you
give us a hint on who will be in book 3? (Yes I know book one just came out but I am
ready for the next ones already!!)
Yes I have all 8 books
for the series planned out, and Book 3 is already under way. I'm hoping you'll
get the first chapter of Book 3 as a teaser at the end of Hunter's Moon... :)
Book 3 is Blood Moon and it's Gareth's book. It will be out in July of
2014. (Yippee...Wendy)
7. Did you use any pictures for inspiration when
you were writing about these hot wolves?

(Oh Yum- follow the link to the yumminess that is "Adam"-------->)
8. Performing with the San Diego Opera, WOW
that is awesome! Tell us about being a professional vocalist.
Before I started writing full time, I used to sing in 3 to 4 shows and Operas a year. I also recorded a couple of music CDs as well. I've had to cut way back because the rehearsal time cuts into my writing time, but I still have one singing job left so I'm very blessed. I couldn't give up music completely! :)

9. Please tell our followers about your first trip
to New Orleans and how it changed your life when you had your palm read.
I was in New Orleans for a business convention and decided it
would be fun to get a palm reading. After my reading (which was very accurate!)
she was walking me to the door and asked "Are you a writer?" My
initial answer was No. At that point I was writing every night for fun, but I'd
never published anything. She smiled and said, "You're going to be a
famous writer one day."
I went back to the hotel
with my brain in a fog. I didn't think I could write anything long enough to be
a novel, but I couldn't stop thinking about what she had said. By the time I
got to the airport, I'd jotted down most of the plot for Night Walker and a few
months later I had the first draft done.
Getting published is the
toughest thing I've ever done, and I don't know if I ever would have tried it
without her nudge. I'm super grateful... :)
10.Being a Disney fan. What are the top three
things you like best when visiting the theme park?
Only 3??? LOL Well of course the Haunted Mansion is my favorite...
(And it opened to the public the same day I was born! How cool is that?) and I
love Pirates of the Caribbean and all the story rides in Fantasyland.
11. Finish this sentence. If I could have
48 hours to do whatever I wanted, I would....... go see an Opera at the Met, a show on Broadway
and watch movies and read books.
12. What is a typical writing day for you?
I wish I had a "typical" day. I guess it depends... If
I'm writing a new book, I do my best writing after dark so I usually do my
social media and promo stuff during the day and write at night. I'm a Night
Owl... :)
13. When you write do you feel that sometimes you incorporate
characteristics from people you love, or perhaps from you personally, to your
characters personalities. Or do you consciously try to avoid it?
I don't purposefully include anyone I know in my characters, but
I'm sure some of their quirks probably sneak in there occasionally.
14. You are hosting a dinner party. If given the
chance to invite characters from other series, who would you invite?
Definitely Lestat and Marius from the vampire chronicles, and Karl
and Paige and Lucas from the Women of the Otherworld Series and Charles and
Anna from the Alpha & Omega series. What a crazy paranormal time we'd have!
LOL

Lana Turpin doesn’t realize she’s a moving target. Raised in the foster system, she only knows that she blacks out during the new moon and wakes up without remembering a thing. But now she’s being tracked by some strange organization that wants her back—even though she’s never stepped foot inside their compound. And the stranger across the diner is watching her like an enemy.
It should be a simple mission for Adam, but when he touches the frustratingly beautiful Lana, his inner wolf howls…mate. Now, the two must find and stop the people who hunt her…and Adam must keep his own family from killing the only woman he will ever love.
