Thank you so much for having me here on Vampires, Werewolves & Fairies, Oh My! today. I’m really excited to share that OBSESSION, the third and final book in The Plus One Chronicles, is out. This trilogy means a great deal to me as it explores the question of how love can transform a person’s life—if they have the courage or fortitude to embrace it and change.

In book one, THE PROPOSITION, Kat and Sloane discover they need each other.

In book two, POSSESSION, they fall in love.

But it’s book three, OBSESSION, where their love is tested. Can Kat overcome her insecurities and fears enough to stand by Sloane and love him even if she gets her heart broken? Is she strong enough to do that now? And when Sloane comes face-to-face with his ultimate challenge, he must choose between the vengeance he’s trained relentlessly for and the love he has just recently found. Which will he choose and what will the cost be?

In this scene clip from OBSESSION, Sloane goes up to bed only to find Kat is missing. But there’s only one place she’d go—Drake’s room. Drake is Sloane’s very ill mentor, and he and Kat have developed a strong friendship. Sloane goes to Drake’s room and this is the scene:

“She fell asleep waiting for you.”

His heart swelled at the sight of her curled up next to Drake. Her long hair spilled over the side of the bed, and she had Drake’s hand clutched in hers. He moved closer, unable to stop staring at her. “Looks like the adrenaline crash caught up with her.”

“Went out like a light. She didn’t want to be by herself.”

He waited for the stab of guilt for leaving her alone, but it didn’t come. Kat had been giving him space much like he’d given her after they’d argued the other night. Instead she’d gone to Drake, finding her own way to get the comfort she needed. Or maybe she was comforting Drake. Probably some of both, judging by the content look in Drake’s eyes. “Am I going to have to fight you for my woman?”

His mouth curved. “Think you’re good enough?”

“To fight you? Any day. For Kat?” Sloane traced one of the pink streaks in her strands. “No.” How could someone like him be good enough for Kat?

“Be good enough, Sloane. A woman like Kat only comes once in a lifetime.”

He didn’t have an answer for that. Why did it feel like no matter what choice he made, there was going to be an unbearable consequence? If he let Foster live, that motherfucker would come after what Sloane loved. If he killed Foster, Kat would look at him like she’d looked at David tonight.

It was an impossible choice.

Sloane wants to be the man Kat thinks he is, but he doesn’t know if he can be. Obsession is the most emotional, and in some ways, gut-wrenching of the three books. It’s in this book that both Kat and Sloane learn if they have the courage and fortitude to love and be loved, and to be the partner the other needs them to be. If they can—then they will earn their happily ever after.

I loved writing these books, I believe Kat and Sloane (and Drake) are the most emotionally honest characters I’ve ever written. I hope you’ll give the The Plus One Chronicles Trilogy a try, beginning with the first book, THE PROPOSITION.

Shonna’s review: Not only is the title of the last book in the Plus One Chronicles, OBSESSION, it is the best word to describe how I feel. Yes I have an obsession for this trilogy. From the moment I got my hands on this story I have been in love with everything about it. Always excited to get my hands on any work by Jennifer Lyon, this did not disappoint and gave me another story to add to my “all time favorites” list. So well written, you can’t help but become absorbed in the characters and feel their emotions as this magnetic tale unfolds. The fiery passion stirred with deception, painful loss, and vulnerability only scratch the surface trying to express the ride your emotions will take through the chapters. This isn’t even counting the brick wall Jennifer has waiting for you to smack into with a tense finale twist you don’t see coming. Wow! A fantastic read that I really loved and only wish there was more.

Jennifer Lyon grew up under the shadow of the Matterhorn at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. She attended Walt Disney elementary school and her very first playmate was her beloved dog, Duke, who was cast in the role of hero in all their adventures.
