Where do you find writing inspiration?
You know, it’s funny. Finding Love’s Wings, my first book,
was inspired by all the stories that I read in 2011 & 2012. It was inspired
because, while I adore those stories, I always wanted something a little bit
more. For example, some of the best romance books I’ve read have been filed
with First Person Female Perspective, which is great, but I always wondered and
wanted to know what he really felt.
There was also the rich guy, poor girl stories ruling that
best sellers lists and, well, I wondered what would happen if they were on more
equal financial footing.
Now, after more than a year of writing, inspiration comes in
all forms, from all different places. For example, Give Me Reason was born from
a short story I wrote last Christmas that challenged me to step outside my
comfort zone. When I did, the praise was amazing, so The Reason Series was
born.
But I have a mountain of ideas and inspirations that come
from everyday life. My son, who is 8, loves Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2
and my latest character inspiration comes from Edith – the middle girl, the one
in the pink hat. That is a story that is slowly in the works.
So no matter what you’re doing, you can find inspiration in
the smallest of things and more importantly, acting on that inspiration can
further inspire others.
