Olivia isn't adventurous but when she learns of a job to relocate to Carling's, the ex-Queen of Vampyres, library she is unable to turn it down. Being a witch she is able to close cursed books and items making them safe to travel. Olivia believes her life is set to be boring unlike her friend Grace, who is a oracle and married to one of the most powerful beings in the Elder Races, Khalil, a DJinn who barters in favors. After spending some time with them she is stuck with his daughter, Phaedra, who was raised by her mother as an outcast with no emotions. She even wanted to kill her father, but now he is teaching her how to relate. So she is now going to help others without the return of a favor, that Djinns require. Sebastian has issues with the Wyr government so he sets out to start his own security company. Which is famous with it successes and that's why Carling wanted him to head up the relocating of her library from the new King of Vampyre, who wants to keep it for himself. Right before this mission Sebastian was cursed with a shrunken head and the only way to release the curse is to have the person who placed it on you, remove it, but now that person is dead. Sebastian figures he will have one last mission before retiring to become blind which is part of the curse.
