Q&A Plus Givaway with Lyn Johanson's - TILL DEATH AND BEYOND

Blurb:
Till Death and Beyond is a sizzling tale of two souls bound by destiny in a cruel plot to separate them forever…
A COLD BEAUTY WHO KNOWS DEATH INTIMATELY...
Amira is the strongest witch on the face of the earth, with psychic abilities no others possess. And yet, she is but a slave to the whims of the gods. Forced to be born anew every time she fails in fulfilling an ancient prophecy, Amira is desperate to break the vicious cycle.
A TORMENTED WARRIOR WHO HAS LOST EVERYTHING...
Plagued by the memories and guilt over his family’s demise, Raven lives for the sole reason of restoring his younger brother. And kidnapping a witch is only the beginning—for he intends to right the wrongs of his past by any means necessary.
A DESTINY TO CHANGE THE WORLD...
While the gods might have planned for her to be captured, surrender is not something that comes easy to Amira. Yet one glance into her captor’s eyes, and she is swept away by emotions long ago denied to her. She decides to play along. For a while.
Despite the hatred Raven harbors for their kind, he is intrigued by the witch. One taste of her lips, and she becomes his obsession. Soon, he discovers that fighting against the passion they ignite in one another is futile. But as they strip each other’s secrets, a powerful force threatens to destroy them both.
For in this game of gods nothing is simple—the whole universe seems to conspire against them. And no matter how fiercely they fight, or what they are willing to endure to save each other ... the path they travel is paved with loss.
Will they survive the ultimate test, if even their determination—to fight till death—might not be enough?

Q&A with Lyn

1. Tell us about your book, Till Death and Beyond.
Till Death and Beyond is the first instalment in Witch World series, and it takes you right into the world where magic is real. And witches are hunted.
Amira is unique. She is not a practitioner like all the others. She has real power—little good that it does her. She’s bound by the prophecy and controlled by the gods, and their latest decree is for her to be captured.
Till Death and Beyond is not a simple story about a girl being kidnapped, and how her kidnapper falls in love with her. There’s a twist. She could kill him with a flick of her finger.
And that’s not the only twist…

2. What was the inspiration behind it?
I am very passionate when it comes to certain events in history. And witch-hunts had always been a sore spot for me. Every time I would read about women being persecuted for witchcraft, I would imagine one breaking the ties, and taking her executioner by the throat.
That was when Amira came to me, and I couldn’t not tell her story.

3. Do you plan future installments, or do you plan to go in another direction?
Future instalments are definitely in my plans. I already have the second story in my head. Now, I have to write it.

4. How long have you wanted to be a writer?
Consciously, not that long. But it was always there. I just didn’t realize it.
I was pushed into the logical world since a very young age, so I didn’t entertain any ideas of being anything other than a science major. I was good at it, but it wasn’t something I liked. At the same time, I wrote poems, kept a diary, and dreamed up magical worlds—like I said, it was always there.
I guess sooner or later I was bound to stop and open my eyes.

5. Tell us about a typical writing day for you.
I’m afraid I don’t have typical days. Any type of planning on my part can go south in five minutes. It happens when you have kids. And my munchkins sure do like to keep me busy. It is hard balancing being a wife, a mother, my social activities, and writing. But I try to spend at least a few hours on my writing every day.
A lot of my work gets done after the midnight.

6. Now tell us five things about yourself Lyn, that we won’t find in your bio.
I have a fear of heights, but I try not to let it stop me from climbing to the top of the world. Alright, the Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, or the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica might not be the top of the world, but I’m proud to say I conquered them all.
Traveling is one of my passions, and I’m planning on visiting as many countries as possible.
I have a sweet tooth.
Love ballroom dancing, and I don’t mean just watching it. I waltz and rumba with my husband three times a week. (That’s how we met. On the ballroom floor.)
I’m quite good with Photoshop.
Oh, and I just celebrated my Birthday.

7. What book would we find on your nightstand right now, and what are the next two on your TBR list?
I have Dan Brown’s Inferno on my nightstand. As for my TBR list, it’s tricky—there’s more than a hundred books, and I rarely read them in the order they are listed. But I do know I’m waiting for the next Mercy Thompson adventure.

8. If you could have one wish come true,...what would it be?
This is a tough question. I had like a hundred wishes go through my mind. There was even one for an infinite amount of wishes. Lol. But if I had just one, I would wish for my boys to be healthy and happy.

9. When writing do you have a certain type of scene that you need to slow down and give it a little extra thought to get it just right? Is there a certain type of scene that always flows easily for you as you write?
If I have my Muse by my side, it doesn’t matter what type of scene I write. It just flows. I might rewrite it, might add something later to it, might  need to google some information, which takes time of course, but if the first draft touched me, there is no stopping.
Good thing I’m in a good relationship with my Muse.

10. Is there anything you would like to say, in closing, to our followers?
I would like to thank you so much for having me, and wish happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. Love is a wonderful thing. Treasure it!

Excerpt:
“Burt!” Amira heard Raven yell the moment he saw what she was looking at. “Women and children. Inside. Now!” His hand unsheathed the sword. “Jim! Willy! Take a few men and guard the door. Robin…” he continued issuing orders as the advancing enemy warriors were practically at their doorstep.
“You—” he looked at her.
“Staying,” she announced. Amira wanted a piece of those bastards too. For Brea, for Sofie, for all the nameless girls who had suffered at their hands. She wanted blood, and she wanted it now!
The rage she thought she’d buried came alive with a vengeance. It flared inside her, intertwined with hatred and anger. Her emotions churned, flooding her senses—with a force so powerful, a storm descended upon them all.
Dark clouds obliterated light, replacing the glorious summer weather with a brewing maelstrom swirling above their heads. The far horizons vanished. The winds rose and howled, catching her flimsy strapless gown, causing the purple, silky fabric to flutter in the air.
“Amira!” Raven’s voice rang louder than the bellowing thunders, his expression all but promising to throw her over his shoulder and carry her inside if she didn’t listen.
She shook her head. If he thought for one second she would lock herself away like some coward… The thread of her thoughts snapped when Raven’s palm wrapped around the nape of her neck. He pulled her closer until their bodies met, and looking directly into her eyes, whispered, “Stay alive.”
“Same goes for you,” Amira breathed, conscious of their hearts beating with the same wild tempo. Conscious of the plea in his hoarse voice.
Theirs was a brief, stolen moment in the midst of a tempest. A fleeting touch that lasted a thousand lifetimes in Amira’s heart, and yet ended way too quick. There was no more time.

Her gaze was drawn away by a black sea of enemy streaming through the iron gates, in waves of raised swords.
