Q&A

1. Can you tell us what inspired you to write Violca’s Dragon?

Violca’s dream in the prelude actually was a dream I kept having over and over. Once I finally wrote it down the other four sisters instantly came to me.
After I had the girls I had to come with up the rest. I have always loved dragons so I did some research on the myth of dragons. Then played with the ideal of the Greek God’s not killing them and what would happen.

2. Did you base some of Violca’s characteristics from someone you know, a friend or relative perhaps?

Violca is a collection of the best I see in a lot of people. She is down to earth, sweet and puts her family first. She also has a quick wit and is playful. Which is a lot like the women I surround myself with.

3. Tell us two facts about Violca that aren’t in the book.
Violca will always have ice cream in her fridge. Her mother taught her that eating ice cream from the carton will help solve any problem. Violca loves to sing in her car. She loves all music and when she really gets into it dances a little.

4. How about a couple of fun facts that aren’t in the book about Chase?
Chase used to fear that he would die before finding his mate, now his biggest fear is knowing that since he mated Violca their first child is most likely going to be a daughter that looks just like her and how he is going to stop men like him from trying to hit on her.
Chase is one of the youngest dragons. When he rescued Scott and Eryk, Eryk was still in diapers. He quickly learned why boys should be changed quickly when Eryk surprised him during the first time he changed him when Scott was in the shower. He still remembers that very vividly and finds the situation a little funny. He considers the whole thing funny now and has grown so close to the two he trust Scott like a brother and thinks of Eryk like a nephew.

5. Can you tell us a little about the next installment you have planned for THE DRAGON RUBY SERIES?
The next book is actually about Viktor, the Dragon King you met at the end of the book. It also introduces two more supernaturals groups.

6. When did you first want to become an author?
I have read everything I could get my hands on and used to get really enjoy writing in school. Never really thought anyone would want to read it and didn’t consider it when I was younger. Several years ago we moved to Warrenton, Oregon. Very, very small town especially since we just moved from Miami, Florida and it was raining all the time. Someone asked me to join an online writing group and from there….the rest is history.

7. Tell us three things about yourself that aren’t in your bio.
I have always loved panthers and dragons. I actually have a tattoo of the two fighting on my back.
When I was younger my mother had told me I was not allowed to read adult romance books. So being the smart girl I was started reading romance books that had flowers on the covers. I soon discovered these books were more fun anyways.
I have been married for 14 years this November. My husband when I started writing I think was a little surprised. And then he surprised me by being totally supportive. He was deployed when I published my book but will be home soon and we will celebrate the release of my first book when he gets home.

8. What do you like most and least about being an author?
I love writing of course but I really enjoy meeting other authors and learning. A bonus is my son now thinks I am famous and that’s pretty cool.
As far as what I like least, editing. Hands down the hardest thing for me. It is easier for me to build characters and worlds but the technical side of writing is still a little hard for me. I am grateful for editors and think everyone should hire one.

9. Tell us about a typical writing day for you.
I don’t plan out my stories exactly. I have an ideal of how it should go or how I want it to go. Since I have two boys it is either trying to write while playing referee or waiting for them to go to bed so I can write in peace but be a little tired.

10. What are the top three books on your TBR list right now?
My list is actually very long but my three favorite authors who make it on my list every time they come out with a new book and push the others down are Hannah Howell, Lynsay Sands, and Lora Leigh Breeds Series. I am trying to read Rule Breaker but determined to finish the rough draft of Book 2 first. Which should be done very soon than on to editing.
