"Love is like the
universe, not more mysterious than we understand, but more mysterious than we
can understand."
The quote comes from my new novel Katie in Love - the first of my books to take on that scary, abstract, human madness we call LOVE.
Love is frightening because when you fall in love, you are afraid of falling out of love. Love makes you feel joyful and vulnerable. Food tastes better. You need to go to the bathroom all of the time. You can’t sleep. You laugh for no reason. You walk into doors. You start to give away your old clothes. Even your shoes.
That's what happens when Katie Boyd meets Tom Bridge. She's, well, a bit of slut, and he's an intense young doctor who runs an orphanage. But it bed they burn up the bedsheets and Katie starts to take a long look at who she is: she's twenty-eight. She's taken enough strangers home to share her bed and, when she looks back, she sees the past vanishing behind her as if into a sudden mist.
Katie in Love captures the spirit of the age – internet dating, wall-to-wall porn, a throwaway culture that includes busting up romances before they have even got started. It is a romance with all the twists and setbacks inherent to love. But also, as a mirror to the world and ourselves, any woman who reads the novel will see aspects of herself in Katie and will ask the same questions Katie asks as she is about to make a life-changing decision.
Book Description:
Katie Boyd has nothing in common with Tom Bridge, the volunteer
doctor she meets at a party – except in bed she finds a passion to match her
own. Tom is intense, puzzling, a man who cares about others and compels Katie
to question her own life drifting through the hip clubs and London party scene.
When Tom returns to his post in a Sri Lanka orphanage, Katie isn’t
sure if their passion was lit by its brevity, or if love, unexpected and not
entirely wanted, has edged its way into her life. Should she go back to being
who she always was? Or follow Tom into the unknown?
Katie in Love is a compelling erotic-romance that will grip readers as they
follow Katie’s journey to an ending they may have expected – but not in the way
they expected it.
Brilliantly written and coolly self-aware, Chloe Thurlow was
described by KM Dylan on Amazon as “…the Anaïs Nin of our times.” With Katie in Love – her sixth novel – Thurlow reveals a writer
at the height of her powers.

About the Author:
Chloe Thurlow writes a sexy, subversive blog at www.chloethurlow.com and can be seen scribbling in green ink in her notebook in late night bars in Soho where she sips champagne and doesn't go home with strangers. Not any more. She is the author of the best-selling The Secret Life of Girls and 4 other novels.
