Excerpt:
Alex made his way down the corridors, watching out for the guard. This one he found leafing through a magazine with his feet up and his back turned to the staircase. Alex stopped, breathed in deeply, and let it out slowly, reminding himself that a fat guard’s dumb luck was what caught his cat burglar mentor. No matter how carefully one builds a card house, a gust of wind can bring it all down.
So Alex took his time and focused all his expertise on getting past this guard as if he were from the agency itself. Finally in the basement, he made his way to the crate, pushed it open, and sought out the stone first. He found it and put it in a bag, which he in turn put in his thigh pocket, before stuffing another bag with whatever his pricey education had told him was worth the most on the black market.
Happy with his find, he turned, but something seemed to have a hold on the pocket with the stone in. He turned and found himself face to face with a big, mean-looking ghost. He gasped and clasped his left hand over his mouth to catch the scream he couldn’t stop, and clutched the stone with his right.
And then he ran. He didn’t even care if the guard saw him. He made it past the guard, who was nowhere in sight, and exited through the service entrance.
Alex didn’t stop until his body threatened to vomit out his heart. He stopped and by sheer exhaustion, his body chose to empty his stomach anyway. He took the stone out and stared at it. It felt almost as if fine electricity danced between it and where it touched his skin.
“What the hell did you have me steal, Mr. Henry?”

Q and A with Meraki P. Lhyne
1. Let’s start out by getting to know you. Tell us 4 things about yourself that are not in your bio.
I love American muscle cars, especially the ’63 Buick Reviera. I’m trying to teach myself French, I ONLY write with fountain pens, and I in junior high my teacher thought I was dyslexic when in fact I just hate reading books when I’m forced to.
2. If you could go anywhere, all expenses paid, where would you go?
To France for three months and see museums, and historical sites.
3. List three books you have recently read and would recommend
Haven’s Creed by Parker Williams, The Tutor by Bonnie Dee, and Between the Devil and the Pacific Blue by Charlie Cochet
4. What do you always order in a favorite restaurant?
The House XL burger with no bun.
5. What do you hope to accomplish in the next 12 months?
Writing wise, I hope to manage 450.000 words and get a contract on the sci fi series, I’m writing.
I hope to retrain my injured shoulder and get back into my training program.
And I hope to be able to read a book in French without having one hand glued to a dictionary.

6. What do you like to read?
I read most things and most genres except FM erotica and epic fantasy. I get periods of time where I only read text books.

7. What do you look when choosing a book to read?
Depends on my mood, but I always look for one that can enlighten me to something new. Very often I let myself get tempted to read something by reviews, recommendations, or just someone’s enthusiasm on Facebook or Goodreads.

8. What do you need someone to invent right away?
Something that can record thoughts and translate them onto paper, because my muses are the most chatty when I’m driving.

9. What does the word "romantic" mean to you?
Thoughtfulness. When a person plans little things that will make their loved-one happy. The little things, like surprising them. Putting their wishes at the center of attention without them knowing it.

10. Can you share something about your works in progress?
Sure. I’m writing a MM sci fi series called Ore 5, and I’m currently at #2.
It’s about a shy accountant who got a great job on a mining planet, but during the two years he was in cryo and en route to Ore 5, they downsized, so he’s out of a job the minute he lands. He ends up getting a job in a strip club to do their ledgers, and the club owner Ryder is like gravity itself. To everyone. And he’s promiscuous. Both men have baggage, though, and both are seen differently from how they view themselves.
