Normally he would never be brave enough to flirt with anyone—much less the very hot and very dangerous ginger who’d been starring in his nightly fantasies—but Snake needed something to keep him from getting lost undercover. What started out as a helping hand quickly became an integral part of their relationship—if one could call a five year phone conversation a relationship—and Greg is terrified that once Snake’s sees the wizard behind the curtain, he’ll lose the only man he’s ever loved.

“Damn, Sunshine, you gonna groan like that when I’m shoving my big ego down your throat?” The rough dirty talk was more like the Gene he knew and loved.
Yeah, as hopeless as it was, there was no other word for the feelings that ran deep and true inside him. And it was hopeless. While not conventionally handsome, Gene was everything he could ever want in a man—tall, strong, rugged, smart, and deadly—and damn him for being a ginger to boot. The type of man who had no trouble finding a willing body to fuck. The type of man who would never look twice at an out of shape, curly-haired, glasses-wearing geek. But that was his secret and as long as Gene didn’t know exactly what he looked like, he was able to hold on to the fantasy for a little while longer.
“You know I will.” He was groaning again just thinking about getting his lips anywhere near Gene’s body. “I can feel you fisting my hair, holding me still while you make me take every inch.”

First I want to thank you for hosting Talk Dirty to Me today. I loved writing this book and I really love talking about it, so I’m really eager to delve into the blog prompt you sent me.
Loving someone for them as a person and not what they look like.
Let’s face it, our culture is hung up on appearance. From lingerie to engine parts, sexy sells. Even the most beautiful models in the world, the ones gracing magazine covers and walking catwalks, are being airbrushed to fix perceived imperfections. That culture has created unrealistic expectations, depression, eating disorders, low self-esteem, etc.
Greg personifies the harsh effects of that really toxic environment. He has severe body dysmorphia and hates what he sees in the mirror, and his logical brain can’t see how anyone could want him. In his mind, he’s fat, plan, awkward, nerdy…not a catch. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to be loved, but he’s accepted that he never will be. Enter Snake, the embodiment of Greg’s every fantasy in the looks and personality department, and he immediately decides Snake could never want him.
I wanted more than just an opposites attract story, I wanted the why to make sense and so I removed physical appearance from the equation. These are two men who have built a solid working partnership, a true personal relationship, and a steamy sex life without ever having met in person. Through hours of phone calls they have become everything to one another and after five years, the feelings they have for one another are very real.
When the time comes to put them in the same space at the same time, Greg is held hostage by a lifetime of insecurities and it takes someone as strong as Snake to push them past it. I don’t attempt to fix Greg’s perception of himself in this book, but I do make him think about it. The reality is he is overweight, he is a little plain, he’s definitely awkward and nerdy, but are those really negatives? Snake thinks they are downright adorable and he just wants to indulge himself in all things Greg.
In the end, Greg accepts that Snake thinks he’s something special and he tries to focus more on Snake’s perception than his own. It’s not in any way a fix, but more of a start. When he looks in the mirror and sees plain and chubby, he reminds himself that Snake thinks he’s cute and cuddly. Such simple words, right? But words are powerful, they can hurt or heal, they can put down or build up, and Snake’s new mission in life is to build Greg up.
Greg’s new mission is to accept that some loves him enough to try.

Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I'd begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: to be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it's a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With three series in the works and a full schedule of releases planned for the next two years, it's been amazing to have made this dream my reality.
I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics, and happily ever after. I'm a lover of strong secondary characters, and series filled with families—biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout my books.
