Unprepared, ill-equipped, and with no example to look back on, Ty and Chase embarked on a journey to build a family for Ava and Luc that would far exceed anything they dreamed of for themselves. Two years later, they’ve succeeded beyond their wildest expectations, but there’s still a couple of things missing…and they’re ready to make them happen.
Bad boy biker Trick wouldn’t hesitate to fight for those he loves, but Ty knows it will take more than violence to win this war. Willfully submissive Chase has the utmost faith in his Master, but when he sees Ty struggling with demons from his past, it will be his quiet, unbending support that will see them through. Jumping through the loopholes of family court, they are only one event shy of making it all official and neither are willing to wait another second to check it off the list.
Clearing the path for adoption should reassure them, but it will take their cast of well-meaning friends and the occasional slap upside the head before they realize that the ties that bind them together are forged in a love that can never be taken away.
Exclusive Excerpt:
“Us? Really?” Chris gaped at them, then at his husband, and back. “Me and Owen?”
Owen chuckled and nudged his shoulder. “That’s what they said.”
“No, that’s wrong. They should ask Clay’s family or Saul’s, or…” Chris shook his head hard and pierced them with a defiant glare. “You should be surrounded by family in the courtroom.”
“Which is why we asked you,” Chase agreed with a placating smile. “Everyone will be here at the house ready to celebrate with us, but we can only have so many people in the judge’s chambers.”
“And you chose us?” Chris demanded, his voice pitched high, and Chase didn’t understand why this was coming as such as surprise. Or why he looked so panicked. “Why?”
“Because Ava and Luc love you, trust you, and feel closest to you.” The kids knew they had a big circle they called family, but that didn’t change who they felt the strongest bond to. That was reserved for the often-quiet man who knocked on their door, determined to make sure they were being properly taken care of. Chris had won all their hearts that day and he’d proven himself so many times since.
While they couldn’t say they knew Owen as well, the man had taken their vision for the home they wanted to give the kids and exceeded their every request. He was quiet and still occasionally awkward when it came to interacting, but his ability to translate their wishes into the reality they lived in showed more empathy than anyone gave him credit for. And, like Chris, he was determined that Ava and Luc have the best life he could, quite literally, build for them. The twins adored him nearly as much as they adored his husband and that trumped social awkwardness any day of the week.
“I’m…we’re…” Chris struggled and Chase’s heart went out to him. “Honored. We really are, Chase, but you still have time to think about this. Not much…like less than a week, but that’s more than enough time to ask someone else. Someone better…more…”
“There is no one better or more. We have thought about this,” Ty put in as he joined them around the patio table. “Thought about it, talked about it, asked the kids…everyone in this house agrees that you two should be with us during the final adoption proceeding. The kids were all ready to ask you themselves, but we thought it would be mean to sic those big brown eyes on you without some kind of warning first.”
Chris looked around as if he thought Ava and Luc were going to jump out of the shadows. “I feel like I should be appreciative, but I know you’re just giving me a false sense of security.”
About Jessie G
Like many readers, the dream of being a writer has been with me a long time. After three decades of trying, I'd begun to doubt. Thanks to social media, I followed my favorite authors hoping to glean some words of wisdom as I pounded out half-formed ideas with alarming regularity. Two repetitive themes emerged: to be a great writer you must read a lot and your butt must be in the chair every day like it's a job. The more you write, the easier it will be to write and the better you will be at writing. I took that advice to heart and write every day. With three series in the works and a full schedule of releases planned for the next two years, it's been amazing to have made this dream my reality.
I am a firm believer in marriage equality, love at first sight, power dynamics, and happily ever after. I'm a lover of strong secondary characters, and series filled with families—biological or chosen. All are themes you'll find throughout my books.
