Publication date: May 12th 2017
Genres: Adult, Psychological Thriller

There’s a secret.
A woman is heard whimpering in a parking garage.
A dark side to the powerfully rich is exposed.
And Alex Gantry is at the center of it all.
After several frightening events that shook Alex’s world, things have settled down.
So it seems…
Elite life coach, Alex Gantry, is enjoying her new life in the Washington, D.C. Beltway.
T.J. Gale, who’s part greenpreneur, part leader of a quick-strike unit of former military and intelligence professionals, has set her heart aflame.
Alex and T.J. are in love.
Enter Jett Spence, a man who once was part of T.J.’s world but who is now an unknown, because no one can tell whose side he’s on.
Two thousand miles away in Hollywood, Alex’s old haunts, the powerful producer Brian Marks is falling apart because he’s lost her. The woman he never thought would leave him is now in the bed of a younger man.
In New York City, T.J.’s ex-wife, Lisa, is looking to get even with the woman she thinks destroyed her marriage. Her vengeful father Davin Dalaney is eager to help because T.J. is no longer willing to ignore his criminal profits.
Brian is intent on getting Alex back.
Lisa wants to make her pay.
And T.J. is attempting to keep her safe.
Alex believes she can take care of herself, but being with T.J. has taught her it’s not always that simple.
From the Washington, D.C. Beltway to Los Angeles, California, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

“Hey, you were protecting her. She should understand that.”
“Yeah, I thought so too, but guess again. Alex knows how to shoot a gun, and she has been around dangerous men before. She feels like she doesn’t need a man to help her make it through life.”
“Sounds like someone got a real reaming. I feel for you, man.”
“I’m still looking for pieces of my ass; she tore me a new one.”
Malcolm laughed.
“Appreciate the support, buddy,” T.J. said.
“Hey, you know I learned the hard way, too. Cost me the best woman I’ve ever had. I kept the job from her to keep her safe, protected. But she dropped me like a bad memory when she found out that I had lied to her about everything: who I was, where I worked, my entire life. We tried, but she couldn’t get past it.”
“Yeah, and you haven’t had two dates with the same woman since.”
“It’s the work, my man. It’s not conducive to a relationship.”
“Bullshit. It’s us. We’re adrenaline junkies with control issues who need to open our damn eyes and quit treating women differently than we would any man in the same situation.”
“I hear you, but – ”
“No buts, my friend. If Alex had held out on me in a similar situation, afraid to tell me the truth about something, I would have been pissed as hell. You can’t tell me you’d have felt any different,” T.J. said.
“We’re not girls.”
“Yeah, and neither is Alex. She’s a pro who unpacks people’s lives for a living. So being with a man who treats her like a child, now how sexy is that?”
“When you put it like that.”
“We have shit relationships and lousy women in our lives because we don’t trust them like we do men.”
“Hey, Dr. Phil, I think you’ve got something there. You’re suffering from post-divorce stress disorder.”
T.J. started laughing.
“True that, but I’m also making the same mistakes that Phyllis has called me on a thousand times. After dad died, I worried a lot about her. I wasn’t crazy about Ben Cates when he showed up. I let her know it, too. I kept checking up on her and asking details about them, where they were going. When I called and she was in Europe with him, I accused her of being disrespectful of my father for not waiting longer. Shit, she had nursed him through the most awful chemo treatments and innumerable surgeries. She spent years of her life taking care of him.”
“Rough times, man.” He’d been there with T.J.
“I started acting like a man possessed. Phyllis finally had to cut me off for a while, quit talking to me, blocked my calls. And when I showed up in New York at the penthouse, I got into a screaming match with Ben, who wanted no part of it.”
“Alex will come around, just like Phyllis.”
“I sure as hell hope so because everything she said to me is true, though I couldn’t admit it at first. You think you’re evolved, you know, a man who treats women as equals. Then you meet a woman who is the walking embodiment of the term and it stops you dead.”
“We went through the same thing here, remember?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“So, as long as we’re on the subject, what does she know about LSS?”
“That it’s an international environmental company with global security imperatives,” T.J. said.
“Is that on our business cards?”
“Actually, we got into a conversation over it today.”
“Was that before or after you blew her mind over Marks?” Malcolm asked.
“You’re a masochist.”
